1972 Rolex Red Submariner Mark IV 1680

OVERALL: 1972 Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 Mk IV (open '6' feet first). Fresh to market and came from the original owner's family. Completely unmolested example; no relume, no refinished/recut case, no dial touchups. Watch is running well and accurate but service history is unknown; safe to assume the watch is due for a service but will leave that to the buyer. If you're like me, you want certain watches to be handled by watchmakers you trust.

  • BRACELET: Original 9315 folded link oyster bracelet with 380 end links and "PATETED" divers extension. Bracelet is in great condition but has signs of wear; couple of links have dents on the center piece and has moderate stretch overall. 10 links.
  • CASE: As mentioned above, there has been no refinishing/recutting on the case. The case remains thick for a watch that was worn by the original owner. No pitting between the lugs but has end link wear; reference and serial numbers are visible.
  • BEZEL: Bezel is in excellent condition with the "teeth" not polished or worn down. Fat font Mk3 insert has aged beautifully to a matte gray with no chips on the aluminum
  • DIAL: Mark 4 dial and hands have aged beautifully with creamy patina throughout. Dial edges are perfect and have no chipping; all minute markers are clearly visible. Bottom of 6 the o'clock marker has brown aging spot as does the 7 o'clock marker although much smaller/lighter. The hands in some lighting conditions are SLIGHTLY darker shade of cream.
