1984 Rolex GMT Master 16750 w/ 'Spider Dial'

OVERALL: Workhorse watch. The 16750 combines vintage and modern elements. It has an acrylic crystal and an open 6/9 date wheel but also with a glossy dial with white gold surrounds. Service history is unknown but is running well. This is a 'spider dial' which is a nickname associated to glossy dials where the lacquer cracked giving it a spider-web effect. This is the first spider dial I have owned and it's much more subtle than I expected based only on seeing pictures of them online prior. In fact, I didn't even realize it was a spider dial until after I cleaned up the crystal. It really only shows in certain lights/angles which also made it hard to photograph (but I did my best in the pictures below).
  • BRACELET: Newer 93150 with 580 end links. Bracelet is in great condition with some signs of wear and a little stretch. Bracelet has X links. Date code is R (1993).
  • CASE: Has signs of use but remains thick as you can see on the lugs and crown guards. Reference and serial numbers are clearly visible with nearly zero end link wear between the lugs.
  • BEZEL: Pepsi (red/blue).
  • DIAL: Spider dial with creamy markers. The patina on the hands match the dial except for the 24-hr hand which has been relumed. There is a light circular drag mark from the hour hand. This is also a ‘no date’ dial. For a short period, the early white gold surround dials read ‘Oyster Perpetual’ and were soon after replaced with dials that read ‘Oyster Perpetual Date’. The second hand also has a slight curve at the tip.
